Overview

Our How to Implement Cleantalk to Prevent Spam on MyListing Websites guide will show you how to implement this solution to protect yourself and your users from annoying SPAM.

The Problem

While it is certainly not a problem unique to MyListing websites, there are many entry points (Listing Submission Form, Listing Contact Form, User Login/Registration Forms, WooCommerce Checkout Form, etc.) in which spam can reach you or worse yet, your users.

In order to combat this, MyListing website owners are often told to implement reCAPTCHA here, implement reCAPTCHA there, and sprinkle in a little honeypot action.

To add to the confusion, no one (not even the vendors) can definitely tell you which version (or setting within a version) of reCAPTCHA works best with their solutions.

The icing on the cake is that enabling reCAPTCHA for the various entry points within MyListing websites (not with Elementor forms) has a negative impact on the performance of your website.

By the time you realize solutions like reCAPTCHA and Honeypot are not working, you may have already damaged your reputation with your customer base, by inundating them with spam.

The Solution

Implement CleanTalk’s Anti-Spam plugin, which will allow you to set up all your protection from one place, while not adding any performance overhead to your website.

  1. Settings > Anti-Spam by CleanTalk:¬†Click the ‘Check comments for spam’ link at the top of the page.

Statistics & Reports

There’s not a ton to mention here other than this is the place where you can check on items related to the plugin itself, spam operation history, etc.

  • Last Spam Check.
  • Last Time SpamFireWall Triggered.
  • SpamFireWall Updates.
  • SpamFireWall Events.
  • CleanTalk Server Connection Health.

Wrap Up

Getting ahead of any spam-related issues is really important for protecting your company’s reputation and the overall user experience for your customers.

Given the uphill battle, we all face with the performance of our MyListing websites, we should look to solutions that help us in that battle, or at the very least…do not hurt us further.

CleanTalk’s Free 7-Day Trial offering which then can turn into 6 additional months for Free, is extremely generous for what you get and we see no downsides to implementing this solution.
