Give your MyListing websites AI superpowers with Novamira.
Novamira gives your AI agent powerful access to MyListing, WooCommerce, Elementor, and more—so you can do more with your WordPress site.
Choose your mode: Read Mode, Staging Mode, or Cowboy Mode—and put your AI agent to work.
Key Takeaways
- Unlock more with AI: Put your AI agent to work across MyListing, WooCommerce, Elementor, and your wider WordPress site.
- Novamira Pro is required to connect Novamira to your MyListing site.
- Read Mode: Let your AI agent explore site data, but remember—it doesn’t restrict administrator-level access.
- Staging Mode: Test changes before going live. Push selected files or database changes, or replicate those changes on your live site.
- Back up first. Always back up both live and staging sites before making changes. Cowboy Mode is intended for web professionals comfortable with the risks of working directly on a live site.

Why Novamira for MyListing?
- Handle the complicated parts of MyListing: Creating a listing type involves more than adding a few fields. You may also need to configure search forms, preview cards, and individual listing pages. Novamira gives your AI agent MyListing-specific tools to work through these settings together.
- Work with your site’s existing setup: Instead of starting from scratch or guessing how your directory is organized, your AI can inspect existing listing types, fields, and categories before making changes. This is especially useful when working on an established site with lots of existing content.
- Manage listings in bulk: Need to add dozens of businesses from a spreadsheet, update opening hours, or find listings with missing information? Novamira helps your AI handle these repetitive tasks across your directory, saving time compared with editing listings one by one.
- Make changes that account for related data: Listing types, fields, categories, and regions all work together. Novamira helps your AI manage these relationships, making tasks like reorganizing categories or duplicating an existing listing type easier to handle without overlooking related settings.
- Use your AI for more than writing code: Ask for practical changes in plain English, such as creating a restaurant directory, finding incomplete listings, or reorganizing regions. Novamira provides the MyListing-specific tools your AI needs to carry out that work through your WordPress site.
- Spend less time guiding your AI through every step: Novamira Pro includes MyListing-specific tools and guidance, so your AI has a clearer path for common directory tasks instead of having to work out the theme’s setup from scratch each time.

Read Mode
As the name suggests, Novamira’s Read Mode is for reading data, not changing it.
- WordPress Dashboard → Novamira → Read Mode → Check the acknowledgement box and click Turn on Read Mode
- Use Novamira on your Live website
- Safely issue prompts against your Live website to read (obtain) information
Use Read Mode to read files, directories, site details, posts, taxonomies (listing types, categories, regions, tags, and custom taxonomies), etc.
- Read Mode is not a security feature: Cursor connects with administrator-level permissions and can read everything an administrator can read.
- Read Mode is not a replacement for careful prompting: Be careful with what you ask your AI to do, so it doesn’t misinterpret your intentions.
Staging Mode
Staging Mode is a term I made up, but it’s Novamira’s intended use, which is to use it within Staging before using it to make changes to your Live website.
- Perform a full backup of both the Live and Staging websites
- Use Novamira on your Live and Staging websites
- Between Option 1 and Option 2, use the method that best fits your workflow
Use Staging Mode for the safest way to make and test website changes with Novamira.
Work in staging first, then either:
- Repeat the changes with Novamira on your live site, or
- Push selected changes from staging to live after testing.
Option 1: Push Staging to Live
This approach works best if your host offers an easy-to-use staging environment with granular push options for selected files and database changes—not just a full-site push.
My clients and I use MyListing Club hosting, powered by Kinsta, which offers excellent staging tools for this workflow. This guide uses Kinsta as the example.
- WordPress Dashboard → Novamira → Read Mode → Disable
- Staging → Work with Cursor, starting in Plan Mode, to achieve the desired results
- Kinsta Dashboard → Select your Staging site
- Push to Live → Files → If you worked on files (themes, plugins, images, and other uploaded content) in step 1, check this box and make the desired choices
- Push to Live → Database → If you worked on the database (stored content and settings, including posts, pages, users, and site configuration) in step 1, check this box and make the desired choices
- Push to Live
Option 2: Duplicate Cursor Actions From Staging on Live
- WordPress Dashboard → Novamira → Read Mode → Disable
- Staging → Work with Cursor, starting in Plan Mode, to achieve the desired results
- Staging → Tell Cursor, “Give me a prompt that I can give Cursor in my Live environment that encompasses the work we’ve just completed.”
- Live → Paste in the prompt from the previous step and tell Cursor, “Use the prompt I pasted into the chat.”
- Live → If needed, continue working with Cursor in Plan Mode to fine-tune the desired results
Cowboy Mode
I borrowed the term “Cowboy Mode” from the phrase “cowboy coded,” which describes working quickly and informally, often taking shortcuts or using risky fixes instead of following best practices and planning carefully.
Use Cowboy Mode only if you’re a web professional comfortable with the risks of working directly on a live site.
An exception: Non-professionals may consider it for a live site that isn’t yet accessible to the public, such as one in Coming Soon or Maintenance Mode. Even then, back up your site first.
- Perform a full backup of the Live website
- WordPress Dashboard → Novamira → Read Mode → Disable
- Live → Work with Cursor, starting in Plan Mode, to achieve the desired results
Best Practices for Using Novamira on a Live MyListing Website
Important: AI-assisted changes can break your website or affect customer data. Always maintain a current backup, limit access, and verify changes before relying on your live site.
- Treat AI access like admin access. Assume your AI agent can make significant changes to your site.
- Keep Read Mode enabled by default. Disable it only when you’re ready to make specific changes.
- Back up before making changes. Create a full backup before turning Read Mode off.
- Define one task at a time. Request specific changes, not vague instructions like “fix whatever you find.”
- Stay in control. Review the AI’s proposed actions, approve steps when possible, and supervise the session until the task is complete.
- Restore Read Mode immediately. When finished, re-enable it and reconnect your AI tool to restore the read-only setup.
- Use a separate admin account. Give your AI its own login so you can revoke its access without locking yourself out.
- Use HTTPS. Always connect securely when your AI agent accesses your site remotely.
- Be explicit in your prompts. In Read Mode, say “inspect only—don’t make changes.” When changes are allowed, specify exactly what the AI can modify.
- Remember Read Mode’s limits. It restricts Novamira’s capabilities, not necessarily other tools your AI agent can use. Consider every integration connected to your AI session.
- Check your site afterward. Test key pages, forms, checkout, and login. Watch for errors or layout issues over the next day or two.
- Limit access. Restrict who can disable Read Mode or connect an AI agent to your site.
- Keep everything updated. Regularly update WordPress, Novamira, and your plugins, independently of AI sessions.
Frequently Asked Questions: Novamira AI for MyListing
Do I Need Novamira Pro?
Yes. Novamira Pro is required for MyListing websites. This guide walks you through installing Novamira Free and Pro and connecting it to Cursor.
How Can I Get Novamira Pro for Free?
If you’re a MyListing Club client, you can get Novamira Pro at no cost.
Can I Use Novamira on a Live WordPress Site?
Yes. You can use Read Mode to access site data, but it doesn’t eliminate all risks associated with administrator-level access. For making changes, staging is the recommended approach. Cowboy Mode is intended for web professionals comfortable with the risks of editing a live site.
How Do I Move Changes from Staging to Live?
You have two options: push selected files or database changes from staging to live, or ask Cursor to generate a prompt to reproduce the changes on your live site. Back up both sites first and carefully review any changes before pushing them.
Can I Use an AI Agent Other Than Cursor?
Yes. Novamira works with other compatible AI agents, too. Cursor is the author’s preferred choice, and this guide uses it for the setup instructions. You may need to adapt the steps for other agents.
